Test, test, testing...

It's almost as if I've forgotten how to blog. Alright...let's see if this works.

A Cool Mayor?

Okay, so here's the gist. The mayor of NYC isn't going to march in the St. Patrick's Day parade, a City wide staple since the Irish have arrived to the city in droves and were treated like crap, because they won't allow gays to march on their own float.

At first glance, I'm like, "okay."

I mean, seriously. I like to think it's freedom of speech, even as a gay man. The parade organizers have that right. Yes, the term "Saint" is at the front of it's name, but that means very little, it isn't a Catholic event. Please. Americans love to scream that their religion is being slammed and dismantled, when, in fact, they wouldn't do have the things they do if they were Christians. So, for this instance, it's just a word and the name of the holiday.  So, using, "it's sponsored by the church!" is a lame-o excuse.

The cool part? The mayor knows we exist. It used to be we were the great unwashed. He sees the importance of us. He would love it if we were a non-event.

So, is it okay to support both of the parties involved? Oh, yes, don't get me wrong. The parade organizers are Asshats with a capital A. And they have the right to have unpopular speech.

They just have to remember, they are also welcome to the unpopular stuff too.

Alright, I blogged. I feel slightly better.

Peace,
Roo
