Marriage in Gay and Lesbian Fiction - NYTimes.com

I thought this was an interesting post. Basically, since you probably don’t wanna waste a good chunk of your life catching up on your Sunday Times readings-that a majority to texts of gay fiction tend to be about doomed love. Think "Brokeback Mountain.”

Makes sense. If art truly reflects life, well, the authors of such books would naturally succumb to that thought process. And as much as I hate it, the fact is, tragedy is tragedy. Hasn’t anyone heard of Romeo and Juliet?

However, with the change of character in our culture, the looming possibility that we can have full equality means the art of our lives will start to take a very, very different turn. Now, me? I’m one to talk. I write horror, mostly, when it comes to fiction. And when it came to any time I wrote queer fiction, the edges tended to be tragic or dark.

Something to ponder.

I’m fine with the change, frankly, but for straights and queers…tragedy always takes the cake, doesn’t it? If it bleeds, it leads, as it were. So the more things change, I suppose, the more they stay the same.

Woof.

Call Me, well, What, Exactly?

Okay, so here's where the reason why I started a second blog. I wanna talk about what's sexy and hot. I noticed something. Something I'm not proud of. Okay, maybe it is just me, but, well--I don't find this video very "hot," for lack of a better term.

I love this little ditty of a song, mind you. I'll include it here below. It defines the summer, like so many other pop tunes of the recent past. I think of California Girls, also done with a queer twist. A hook of a song, totallly non-commital, completely lacking in any kind of depth. Just plain fun. Like a roller coaster.

So? Here's the first video. There's something sad about beautiful people dancing around showing us why we aren't them...

Yes, they're cute. But, like a soda pop, enough for a rush, but we don't see them again.

Now, here? Again, maybe its my age showing, but look at the original video. I think its cute, proving why its a summer hit. And, frankly, I think its hotter than the weho go-go boys...

Now, here's something that happens that I noticed. Here's two more copies of this ear-worm. The first one has some the best looking models the world has ever known from Abercrombie and Fitch. Yet I find the video is totally not worth watching. They're having a good time. But they're so vacuous that I find its actually a turn-off to see them...

Even here? "Look at me, I'm kinda hot," just doesn't cut it any more, people. In a world when we can download inappropriate videos at a moment's notice, just being beautiful isn't enough any more. Even if you have beautiful pectorals.

I will say, in that last video, the men make a point of saying that they're actually straight. I think that's amusing, for they made the video gayer then the WeHo men at the start of this article! What is really interesting, even though they are straight, they are more than willing to entice gay men to look at them. This is something gay men are going to have to get used to in the near future. The next generation is growing up used to both men and women appreciating them. And with that, they're used to garnering that attention and further blurring the lines of what is gay and not gay.

Now this next video shows you something you won't expect-this is the hot one. This is the one where I felt that, yes, THAT is attractive. They're coordinated, being themselves and the sense of mockery in their presence isn't evident. They aren't showing their pecs, but, instead, showing their energy and vibe. Now this? This is kinda hawt...

So, there you go. Do I start the diatribe about "Sexy and I Know it?" Soon, my bearish friends, soon....

Peace!

Womanist Musings: What Exactly are Gay Men Doing Sexually?

Is it safe to assume, well, we’re boring. I heard as story once, from Dan Savage himself on the Colbert Report, about when Mr. Savage was on Larry King. A caller had called in and asked Mr. Savage about his sex life and Dan went to answer that it was pretty boring-just like straight people’s—pretty much not unlike everyone else’s.

Larry cut him off before it was put on the air. “Once they know you’re like them, you’ve got nothing,” he stated.

I bring this up because he’s a further study. It shows we’re as vanilla as everyone else.

Hard Starts: Luge v Bobsled v Skeleton | The Awl

LINK TO BLOG/VIDEO

Okay, okay, living for years in the shadow of the Olympic Training Center, I admit—those men are HOT. I mean, 1 percent body fat, nipples facing down, 12 meals a day. What’s not like to like? And, in fact, since they’re being watched constantly, they have to be on good behavior, just like the military-just without the uniforms.
With that in mind, I stumbled across this little bit. But here’s the thing. As I watched the video, hoping for some shirtless awesomeness, I found out something--
--the training situations these men are in are very cool, totally unrelated to their hotness factor. It’s like mini rollercoasters.
I would never actually DO those sports-something about sliding on ice a few inches above the ground frightens the crap out of me-but there’s an educational component this video did not realize it was posting!
Enjoy.

NFL adds ‘sexual orientation’ to anti-discrimination language in new CBA - Wide Rights

NFL adds ‘sexual orientation’ to anti-discrimination language in new CBA - Wide Rights

I’m thinking this works better if I put the link FIRST, before my opinion. Mighten that work?

Still, considering that there are, like, zero NFL players out, I like the sound that this is out there. Maybe, just maybe, things are changing. When sports and military are integrated, the healing might begin for gays and lesbians.

There’s always hope.

Peace.

Freedom of Speech

Believe it or not, even if I don’t agree with this kid’s opinion, he has the right to say it. I mentioned it in my previous post here and I’ll say it again. You don’t have to like me because I’m gay-that’s not what equal rights are about.

There are dems and there are GOPers. They hate each other for the stupidiest of reasons, when, in the end, they are working for pretty much same purposes.

I say, let the kid stay in school. Perhaps the teacher should have made a conversation about this topic right then and there. However, given standardized testing—I know the teacher has zero time to teach what’s important but instead has to teach to what will cut their pay.
