Hate Group Leaders Use Colorado Massacre To Attack Gay People | The New Civil Rights Movement

Really? The dust hasn’t even settled. Now, remember, read before reading my comments. I work on that precept…

Hate Group Leaders Use Colorado Massacre To Attack Gay People | The New Civil Rights Movement

In Nazi Germany, they used the burning of the government buildings to get attention. Here’s what this old bear thinks-why are they getting press time? When a child is screaming on the corner because PapaBear didn’t buy him a ice cream drumstick, do you see cameras running to take his picture?

Well, if the kid is famous or is 23 and has abs of steel, yes. But, beyond that, nope.

The more attention we give these folks, the more outlandish they make…oh…shit….and here I am making a post about not drawing attention to these asswipes.

Fuck. Just….fuck.

But my point, before I totally got meta on y’all—I just wish no one would give the Westboro Freaks attention. Imagine, if you will, them protesting to an empty street without fanfare. They’d stop and move on. If only. If only.

ESPN Magazine - The Body Issue | Oh yes I am

Okay, yes, I admit that, on occasion, I don’t look at hot pictures of bears.

Go figure.

ESPN Magazine - The Body Issue | Oh yes I am

The fact is, I used to live up the road some from the Olympic Training Center and those guys and gals were really great examples of humanity.

And they were damn hot. Even the ugly ones…hawt.

I also need to point out Gronkowski once stated he wanted to be gay so he could bang Tim Tebow. If that’s not increasing your gay fan base, I don’t know what is.

And these pictures sorta seal-the-deal.

Enjoy.

When my neice was out here, a spry 17 year old who had all the answers, Mrs. Palin popped up on our television and I started gagging about how much I hated her. My youngest family member glanced at me and stated, "wait, you hate a woman in politics?"

I looked back at her and stated, "tell me what politics she's actually completed, my dear?"
Teenagers are a smart bunch. That's why there are so many of them.

"She was governor of Alaska!"

"No, she didn't finish that job or go back to it."

"Oh."

My disgust for Mrs. Palin is that she is like everyone else--she has no real agenda or purpose other than to seek fame for fame's sake. She has achieved nothing. This book is ghost written. And it bothers me that people tend to venerate her. She is merely a celebrity right up there with Paris Hilton and Beetlejuice.

And I think she exemplifies everything wrong with politics on the right.

Google Announces Worldwide Campaign To Legalize Same-Sex Marriage [UPDATED] | ThinkProgress

Google Announces Worldwide Campaign To Legalize Same-Sex Marriage [UPDATED] | ThinkProgress

I remember, back in the late 80’s, early nineties, how there was this fear, set up by the GOP—that there would be a New World Order. GOPers jump on the concept that government is like Big Brother, and something to be despised.

Makes sense. There’s a reason like jokes, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help..” continue.

So, Reagan and Bush Sr rally their troops that we won’t let government of other countries encroach on us.

Again, makes sense.

I mean, China has been Communist for years and look how much they’ve influenced our government…

…I was being ironic. They’ve taken our jobs and livelihood, mostly due to GOP involvement.

I digress. Sorry, tired.

The fact was, it was easy to say that back when.

There was no internet then.

google,investigation

Now? There’s a World Wide Web.

So, all the players in business HAVE to be international, even if they aren’t branching out in Kaula Lampur. If someone in Singapore can see your webpage, well, it better be nice and manageable, ya know?

So it makes sense that Google, of all people, who hires individuals around the globe would want to hire the best of the best-and sometimes those happen to be queer. I support American businesses and see this as an awesome move.

Yes, it’s a bit New World Order. But with the world’s need for the omnipotent Google, things are going to have to change some!

In opposition to my other post…

Here’s some companies we SHOULD be giving cash to…

Evangelicals Fight Over Therapy To 'Cure' Gays : NPR

Evangelicals Fight Over Therapy To 'Cure' Gays : NPR

First off, everyone pretty much knows that this approach, these “Ex-Gay” ministries have never, ever worked. It’s like praying your eyes will change color. For years, various groups have tried it.

And made a shitload of cash in the process. So it made sense to keep them around. Nothing like buying your third house on people’s pain. A pain you, as a minister, helped create. These individuals made people feel guilt; then told them they needed special, special therapies that only they could offer.

Sorta like a drug deal.

Here’s the thing I can’t seem to find in any of these announcements from Exodus International. This is a massive cash cow for many a Christian organization. Especially Focus on Your Family.  I can’t see the angle they’re playing. The article mentions that Exodus will still be around, but it doesn’t say in what capacity.

Hmmm. I don’t trust them. Go figure.

Let’s be careful out there.

Everyday Sociology Blog: Why Can't We Have a Straight Pride Parade?

This has happened to me as well, especially from people who find out my orientation.

Everyday Sociology Blog: Why Can't We Have a Straight Pride Parade?

In fact, it happened at my work, recently.

I pointed out to this very sweet old woman—“Have you ever gone to a Greek Festival? Like the ones over in Tarpon Springs?”

”Yes! I love it, it’s great fun!”

”Do you ask, why can’t there be a…whatever nationality you are?”

”I guess, I guess I don’t.”

I try to explain to her what it is like, growing up as a minority. My parents? Jewish. We’d go to Jewish festivals and holidays, and, whilst there were a goodly number of gentiles present, it was a time to celebrate our identity and as a family and community. It wasn’t for the nonJews, as it were.

With this same woman, I asked her, “do you feel like you are oppressed? Do you feel that you are being put down because you are straight?”

”Yes! I do!” she stated matter of factly.

“You do? I’m sorry to hear that. What can we do to make you feel better? Would the parade help you feel better?  Should we change laws to make sure you feel better?”

She got quiet. I’m still not sure if I’m getting through to her. She’s a great lady. I’m surprised, sometimes, at how much she still isn’t sure about—yet she has a degree and everything. Amazes me. I’m okay with this, mind you. We’re all students in some manner.

Gay American History: The Country's Gay Secrets

Okay, you have to see the slide show on this one…

Gay American History: The Country's Gay Secrets

But, really, are we surprised? The one thing I don’t get, why does the closet even, really, exist? I have this one friend, so in closet that he sorties over to Narnia, yet, his response, “it’s just easier.”

Easier?

Having to think of constant excuses and who you told what about whom when you did that one day but not the other?

The fact is, homosexuality has been around since, like, forever. Yet people still rally against it. Their argument? So has crime and murder!

We are not criminals or murderers.

Nor should we hide what we are any more.

There’s a reason it is called, “Pride.” So more don’t hide.  Take heed and look at our glorious past.

As I have gotten older, I find that this is more and more true. In fact, I think the current generation is growing up, even though they are straight, they understand the stigma is not as potent as previously.

I’m a weird one, however, as my own experience goes. I went directly to being a Kinsey six. I have very rarely met others like me.

You? How do you rate yourself?

Chick-Fil-A Donated Nearly $2 Million To Anti-Gay Groups In 2010 | Equality Matters

Chick-Fil-A Donated Nearly $2 Million To Anti-Gay Groups In 2010 | Equality Matters

Okay, last post? All about boycotting. This one? About boycotting. Don’t eat at this place, folks. Period. Just don’t do it. It’s bad for you anyways.

Ballmer, Gates each donate $100,000 to support gay marriage law | Microsoft Pri0 | The Seattle Times

Ballmer, Gates each donate $100,000 to support gay marriage law | Microsoft Pri0 | The Seattle Times

First, they boycotted Oreo/Nabisco due to the presence of a rainbow cookies. The humor was, of course, that the conservative right did the boycotting on Facebook. The same Facebook that has a gay founder who just married his boyfriend.

facebook_founder_partner_gay_marriage

So that was very, very poorly thought out. If you are going to boycott a fucking cookie, but not the computer program you’re making the announcement on…well, that’s just piss poor planning right there.

But I learned long ago, that hatred is just another facet of fear. And we all know how well we think when we’re afraid. How many times in any given horror movie do we go, “don’t go in there! Turn on the fucking lights!”

They don’t and they die and we feel they probably deserved it.

So, basically, Ballmer and Gates are donating to keep marriage equality in the state of Washington. Makes sense. When I was visiting Seattle on a business trip back in 2003, Microsoft’s presence was part of the city’s tour. It is such a backbone to that city’s, heck the state’s, economy, there’s much to be proud of. So to see Microsoft supporting such a thing makes sense.

See, young gays and lesbians helped bring about the modern internet. Closeted for years, the anonymous allure of the computer became a symbol of a way out. Okay, maybe these are bold claims, but think about the leap I’m making. Those gays, myself included, were scared and lonely and could finally chat freely. Of course they wanted to make sure their computers were the best for those situations. And computerdom grew.

And Microsoft was there. Maybe this is a kind of thank you? Maybe? Or maybe they’re doing it because the best and the brightest who happen to be gay might want to move to Seattle?

Or maybe, just maybe, this is the right cause to support. Kudos to Microsoft….

Bardy
